It was as though I was standing in a vast, dark chamber, suspended in that great space between Sleep and Dream. No light above, nor below, only a prayer that something might rouse from these fertile depths. I don’t know how long I stood there, blinking into the void. 

Time passed, and as the night deepened so my restlessness grew, thrumming through my body and shaking my breath. I watched and waited, until eventually, the darkness started to cede. 

Slowly at first, a single point of light piercing the velvet sky. 

Alone and twinkling, it shone, as a second then a third shimmered into sight, a sisterhood of stars stretching out across the heavens. Their gentle light falling upon the earth beneath me, whispering to my tired feet, a song to constellate me into being.
